Pure Projects Melbourne was appointed the Project Managers, Superintendent and lead Health consultant for the refurbishment of the Heritage listed Epworth Freemasons Hospital in East Melbourne.

The project involves the construction of a DOSA and administration wing, expansion of the current CSSD department, construction of two new theatres, upgrade of existing seven theatres and construction of ancillary support space. The increase in capacity requires the upgrade of central plant systems to cope with this expansion as well as replacing the existing building services and infrastructure within the hospital.

The works to be undertaken are within an operational environment, with a specific emphasis on delivering the project works while maintaining day to day operations of the hospital with minimal disruption to patients, staff and visitors. It is anticipated that the works will be undertaken over approx. 8 stages, with further sub-stages and dependencies. The first 4 stages were completed during 2014 and the remaining stages during 2015 and 2016.

Pure Projects was selected for the project because of our extensive in-house engineering experience and Health Capabilities. This experience coupled with Andrew Woodrow’s Building services back grounds has given Epworth Healthcare confidence the project will be a success in a very challenging environment. Camille Jason provides the interface between the Project team, Construction team and the Hospital staff.
